My name is Siana Vagana. I am 20 years old and a proud young Samoan from Avondale, Auckland. I am currently a student at AUT studying towards a Bachelor of Communications. For me, dance means that I'm able to express myself and have the freedom to move however I want. I love to use dance to tell my stories. The movements I use are a mixture of contemporary and traditional Siva Samoa. The inspiration for my piece is about being a tama'ita'i Samoa. Being Samoan is a big part of my identity and I wanted to showcase this through my piece.
