Dance Competition Winner Nese Godinet

The Guerrilla Collection Dance Competition Winners of 2021

This mashup video features the three competition winners, Timena Veni Moenoa, Nese Godinet and Lucas Taeiloa, alongside Black Grace dancers.

The Guerrilla Collection ran a dance competition in September calling all Pasefika dancers aged 16 - 21 to create a short dance about their life in lockdown.

We're excited to announce one of the three 2021 Lockdown Dance Competition winners Nese Godinet!

Nese Godinet
Dance Competition Winner 2021

Kia Ora,

My name is Nese Godinet, I am 21 years of age and I am a Teacher Aide at Manurewa High School. I reside in the AMAZING South Auckland and have been my entire life. Dance is a way of life for me. An expression of emotions that words cannot do justice to. Being present and allowing my body to move freely.

I really wanted to explore the concept of time and how it does not wait for anyone. Even when it feels like we are frozen in the moment, time continues to elapse. And with everything happening in our world today, this is the perfect moment to reflect on how we can use our time wisely.

Thank you for this amazing opportunity :)

As a winner of the Lockdown Dance Competition Nese received:
- $500 Prezzy card
- Online mentoring session with dancers from Black Grace to develop dance film
- A limited edition The Guerrilla Collection T-Shirt
- Certificate of achievement
